[ITEM] Cutie Moon Rod.

After she acquired the Crystal Star in episode 51, the spirit of Queen Serenity conjured the Cutie Moon Rod (キューティ・ムーン・ロッド). With this new weapon, Sailor Moon could destroy cardians and droids.

The Cutie Moon Rod consisted of a single banded red orb coupled with a golden crescent moon piece. On top of this combination was a red and golden crown. The pink staff, adorned by three yellow stars, and the globe were connected by a golden winged base. Inside this component rested a red jewel framed by a golden and heart shaped trim.

Sailor Moon sometimes used the Cutie Moon Rod as a melee weapon. In episode 63, Moon threw the rod like a baton at Koan. During the fight with Jakoku in episode 75, Sailor Moon defended herself with the wand.

The varying energy output of the Cutie Moon Rod allowed Sailor Moon to kill organisms far larger than the typical monster-of-the-day. In episodes 59 and 84 respectively, Moon destroyed the giant Makaiju Tree and Esmeraude’s dragon form. In the R Movie, Sailor Moon demonstrated the rod’s wide range attack against an army of flower youma.

In episode 90, the daimon Mikuji countered Moon Princess Halation and knocked the Cutie Moon Rod out of Sailor Moon’s grasp. This was the object’s last appearance in the anime.

In the manga, Double Moon used a pair of Cutie Moon Rods to battle Death Phantom.
